Request UK Financing

UK Financing needs Klarna approval before it is available. Confirm the Partner's FRN on the FCA Register and email Partner Support to request enablement.

Overview

A Payment Program Enablement with type RESTRICTED is not self-serve. Klarna must approve it before the Payment Program is available for your Partner.
This page covers restricted Financing for UK customers. For optional Payment Programs, use createPaymentProgramEnablementAPI instead. See Create Payment Program Enablement.

When a licence is required

The UK credit-broking requirement follows the customer, not where your Partner is incorporated.
If your Partner introduces UK customers to Financing, they must hold a valid credit-broking route — even if they are incorporated outside the UK.
A UK-incorporated Partner can offer Financing in other customer markets without a UK licence, because the UK regime does not apply there. Local rules in those other markets may still apply; this page does not cover them.

Restricted Financing for UK customers

For UK customers, the restricted Financing Payment Programs are:
Financing 0% APR — request each term you want enabled:
  • Financing 0% APR - 6 months
  • Financing 0% APR - 12 months
  • Financing 0% APR - 24 months
  • Financing 0% APR - 36 months
Financing with interest — one Payment Program. Customers in the UK may be offered 6, 12, or 24 month terms. You cannot request a specific term length. Request Financing with interest (this is the interest-bearing program, not Financing 0% APR).

What the Partner must hold

Before you request enablement, your Partner must have one of the following:
  • Their own Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) credit-broking permission
  • An Appointed Representative (AR) appointment under a third-party principal that holds credit-broking permission
Whichever route applies, send the Partner's own Firm Reference Number (FRN). Check it yourself on the FCA Register before you raise the request. Confirm the FRN is authorised, not cancelled. Klarna checks the same register when reviewing the request.

What you must do

  1. 1.
Confirm the Partner holds one of the routes above for UK customers.
  2. 2.
Look up the Partner's FRN on the FCA Register and confirm it is authorised.
  3. 3.
Email Klarna on their behalf with the FRN. The Partner must not contact Klarna Support directly.
Do
Don't
Check the Partner's FRN on the FCA Register yourself before you raise the request.
Don't take the Partner's word that the FRN is valid — look it up on the register.
Request enablement from partner.support@klarna.com using the Partner Account ID.
Don't ask the Partner to email Klarna themselves. Partner Operations will send them back to you.

Request Klarna enablement

Email partner.support@klarna.com and include:
  • The Partner Account ID of the Partner
  • The Payment Program names to enable. For Financing 0% APR, include each term you want — for example Financing 0% APR - 12 months. For Financing with interest, request Financing with interest (not a term length).
  • The Payment Account IDs the enablement should apply to — optional. If you omit them, Klarna enables the Payment Program for all Payment Accounts on that Partner Account.
  • The Partner's Firm Reference Number (FRN) — the number only, after you have confirmed it is authorised on the FCA Register.
Klarna reviews the request by checking the FRN on the FCA Register. If it is approved, Klarna creates the Payment Program Enablement. You cannot create a restricted enablement through the Management API, so an incorrect or incomplete API request cannot enable Financing by mistake.
Other restricted Payment Programs
Other restricted Payment Programs are not covered here. If you need a restricted program other than UK Financing, contact your Klarna Business Developer.

After approval

When Klarna has created the enablement, confirm it with listPaymentProgramEnablementsAPI for the Partner Account ID.
The enablement then applies according to the Partner’s Payment Program Plan.

End the enablement

You can end a restricted Payment Program Enablement through the API, or ask Klarna to end it.
End it through the API. Use endPaymentProgramEnablementAPI. Klarna sets the enablement's state to EXPIRED.
Ask Klarna to end it. Email partner.support@klarna.com and include:
  • The Partner Account ID or Payment Account ID, depending on which account the enablement applies to
  • The Payment Program name to end
