Prerequisites
This article provides guidelines on installing Klarna in your WooCommerce store.

Before you begin, please ensure the following:
- Your store is accessible via HTTPS (SSL certificate is required).
- You have an active agreement with Klarna.

Installation steps
1. Download the Klarna for WooCommerce Extension
Begin by downloading the Klarna for WooCommerce extension from the official source
2. Verify System Requirements
Ensure your environment meets the following version requirements:
- PHP: 8.0 or later. Confirm the current requirement in the technical information.
- WordPress: 6.7 or later. Confirm the current requirement in the technical information.
- WooCommerce: WooCommerce must be installed. Confirm the tested version in the technical information.
3. Install and Activate the Plugin
After downloading, install the plugin in your WordPress admin panel. Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins > Klarna for WooCommerce > Activate to enable the extension.
4. Generate Klarna API Credentials
Log in to the Klarna Partner Portal and navigate to the Settings section to generate your Klarna API credentials (API username and password).
5. Enter Your API Credentials
Enter the generated API credentials in the appropriate section for the region(s) where you intend to offer Klarna.
Environment-specific API credentials
Klarna API credentials are specific to either Production or Test environments. They cannot be used in both. In the picture for step 4, you can find an option to enable or disable Test Mode as needed.
How to test Klarna for WooCommerce
Before accepting live payments, we recommend that you use Test Mode to ensure your integration works as expected. Please follow these steps to set up the test mode for your WooCommerce store:
- 1.Enter this page to sign up for a European test account. If your store is in another market, open the page and select that market.
- 2.Type your email address and click SIGN-UP. You'll get a confirmation email to this address.
- 3.Open the confirmation email and click Activate account.
- 4.Finish setting up your account by
- 4.1.Accepting the Terms and Conditions
- 4.2.Choose a new password
- 4.3.Enter your name
- 4.4.Log in to the Klarna Partner Portal
- 5.Once you have accessed the Klarna Partner Portal, go to Setting > Klarna API Keys and click the Generate Klarna API key button.
- 6.Download the .txt file and close the dialog box.
- 7.Back in your store admin, enable Test mode for Klarna for WooCommerce. Enter the test environment API credentials and click Save changes.
Checkout display
Since plugin version 4.11.0 (June 22, 2026), Combine payment methods on the Klarna payments settings shows a single Pay with Klarna method at checkout. The customer chooses a Klarna payment method inside the widget. Leave the setting off to list each Klarna payment method on its own.
