Payments on restricted businesses
Ensure compliance when processing payments for restricted businesses by submitting required supplementary purchase data for specific MCCs to your Acquiring Partner, enabling seamless and regulated transactions with Klarna.
Restricted businesses operating under specific Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) must provide additional purchase data to ensure transactions are processed in compliance with regulatory and legal standards.

If your business operates under an MCC classified within Group 4 of Restricted Businesses under the Klarna Network Rules, you must submit the required supplementary purchase data to Klarna when initiating payments.
You share this data through your Acquiring Partner, which forwards it to Klarna alongside each transaction — either by mapping it from structured API fields, or by passing it through unchanged using the klarna_network_data field. For details on both mechanisms, see How to send Klarna Network Data.
Submitting accurate and complete supplementary data is mandatory for restricted MCCs and is required to maintain compliance and ensure proper transaction processing.
