BNPL promotion rules 101

As of October 26, 2023, Klarna is a signatory of the Dutch BNPL Code of Conduct (Gedragscode BNPL) and has implemented necessary adjustments which aim to raise standards in the BNPL industry and provide industry-wide additional protections for consumers. These protections include:

• Provision of information to consumers, including a warning text that is visible before entering into the BNPL service (see Article 4 of Code of Conduct).
• Provisions to prevent unauthorized use by minors.
• Inclusion of specific policies to further protect vulnerable consumers and counter potential debt accumulation.

As such, we expect our partners to take notice of the Code. You can find more information about the Code of Conduct here (in Dutch).
