Send customers directly to payment

Bypass the address collection and shipping method screens and place your customer at the final payment step of the checkout. Working with the top partners and retailers, implementing these measures boosted conversions by 6–8%.

1. Populate the billing and shipping information

When a customer successfully signs into their Klarna account, the asynchronous callback returns the billing details. Klarna data shows that the shipping and billing information for over 75% of orders is the same, so you can prefill both the shipping and billing details at checkout.

Remember to give your customers an option to change the prefilled details if needed, for example, if the shipping and billing addresses are different.

2. Select a default shipping method

To minimize the number of steps and maximize conversion, help your customers by preselecting your most popular or default shipping method. Doing so will significantly reduce the number of clicks the customer needs to perform to place an order.

3. Preselect Klarna as the default payment method

Customers who click the Express button have already chosen Klarna as their payment method. Preselecting another payment method can confuse the customers who clicked the Express button to buy with Klarna.

If you’re offering different payment options, always preselect Klarna as the default payment option at the payment step. If your checkout design allows it, make placing the order even simpler by only showing the Klarna payment option.
